Extremism in Passing Judgements Upon People

The Noble Shaykh Abdus-Salām Ibn Burjis (may Allāh have mercy upon him) stated:

As for extremism in the passing of judgments upon the people: It is going beyond the (legislated) boundaries in connecting the ruling upon them of: disbelief or innovation or corruption. Concerning the matter of passing these rulings upon the specific individual, it’s a must that the conditions be fulfilled and the obstacles be removed, just as the the scholars of Ahlus-Sunnah wal-Jamaʿah have agreed upon. From this angle, the statements of the scholars have followed that the one who is going to pass these judgments upon the people regarding their creed or their integrity must be from the people of knowledge and piety. From that is the statement of al-Hāfiẓ adh-Dhahabi (may Allāh have mercy upon him): “The speech regarding the (condition of) men is not permissible except with complete knowledge/understanding and the complete fear (of Allāh).” Continue reading

How to Distinguish Between a Caller to Allah & Others

The Noble Scholar Shaykh Muḥammad Ibn Sâliḥ al-‘Uthaymīn (may Allāh have mercy upon him) stated:

The callers to Allah are divided into two categories: 1) One who (truly) calls to Allāh 2) One who calls to other than Him. The one who (truly) calls to Allāh: He is one who is sincere who wants to connect the people to Allah. The one who calls to other than Allāh: He can be one who calls to himself. He calls to the truth in order that he is magnified and respected amongst the people. For this you find him becoming upset when the people do not do what he commands them with and he doesn’t become upset when they embark upon a prohibition that is greater than it (i.e. that which he commanded them with). However he does not call to the abandonment of it (i.e. the prohibition.

Which is More Severe: Innovation or Disobedience?

Question posed to The Noble Shaykh Ṣāliḥ al-Fawzān (may Allāh preserve him):

Question: Which of the two is more severe in punishment, the disobedient or the people of innovation?

Answer: The people of innovation have more of a severe punishment because the matter of innovation is more severe than the matter of disobedience. The affairs of innovation are more beloved to the shaytān than the acts of disobedience. That is due to the fact that the disobedient one repents (from his sins), whereas the person of innovation rarely repents due to him thinking that he is upon truth, contrary to the one who is disobedient, for he (the disobedient) knows that he is disobedient and that he is committing an act of disobedience. Refer Any Differing to Allāh and His Messenger

Shaykh Ṣāliḥ al-Fawzān (may Allāh preserve him) stated:

Nowadays the phenomenon that has emerged (with some people) is their saying: ‘It’s a controversial issue’. We say, when there is a difference of opinion, the proof should be followed, we should not worship (Allah) with people’s disagreements and views. We worship (Allah) through (following) the proof. So we should refer the disagreement to the proof. Whatever is supported by the proof is the truth and whatever is contrary to the proof is falsehood. Allah has not left us to the views, sayings and disagreement. Rather He says: Continue reading

Reviling the Scholars

Shaykh Sālih Āl-ish-Shaykh states:

Reviling the scholars, without doubt, is a major sin and prohibited. It is even possible for it be deemed disbelief and apostasy if the intent behind reviling them is on account of Islām and their strict adherence to it. Thus Allāh’s refuge is sought from the inhabitants of the fire’s circumstance. Allāh says:

إنما يخشى الله من عباده العلماء
It is only those who possess knowledge among His servants that truly fear Allah (Soorah Fatir: 28)

The Calamity of Opposing Clear Proofs

The Imām Rabī’ Ibn Hādi al-Madkhali said:

A calamity right now from the trials and tribulations that is even with some of the Salafis is that they adhere to the statement of so and so and so and so even if the one who opposes him has clear proofs and evidences.

This demeanor is from the ways of the people of misguidance; the Salafi Manhaj does not acknowledge these ways no matter what station/rank a person has reached. Continue reading

Concerned With Aḥādīth But Not With The Qur`ān

The Noble Imam, Shaykh Muhammad Ibn Saalih al-‘Uthaymeen (may Allah preserve him) stated:

Many from amongst the students of knowledge have concern for the Sunnah and its explanation along with knowing its men (from the chains of narrations) and its sciences (or terminology). However if you were to ask him about a verse from the Book of Allah, you will see that he is ignorant of it. This is a big mistake. It is a must that the Book and the Sunnah are two wings for you, O Student of knowledge.
