Rejecting The Truth

Shaykh ul-Islam (May Allah have Mercy on him):

So indeed a person may know that the truth is with other than him and, in spite of this, he rejects that due to his envy of him or due to seeking to be above him or due to the desire of the soul. And that desire causes him to transgress against him, reject that which he says by any way whilst in his heart, he knows that the truth is with him. Continue reading

Be Humble And Accept Advice From Your Brother

The Noble Scholar Rabī’ Ibn Hādī (may Allāh preserve him) stated:

Upon you is being humble for Allāh and (know that) the religion is sincere advice. When your brother advises you or your father or one who is older than you in age or younger – even if there are degrees/level between you and him – if he advised for Allah, accept (the advice); be humble and do not reject the truth. For indeed, arrogance is looking down upon the people and the rejection of the truth. Therefore, do not look down upon the people nor should you reject the truth. Continue reading

Intentions Matter When Speaking the Truth

Shaykhul-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah (may Allāh have mercy upon him):

If the person who speaks the truth intends (with that) being uppermost in the land (over the people) and/or causing corruption therein, then he is on the same level as the one who fights out of fanaticism and showing off. On the other hand, if the person speaks (the truth) sincerely for the sake of Allāh, making the religion for Him (Alone), he is from the Mujāhidīn (i.e. those who  strive) on the path of Allāh; (he is from the) inheritors of the Prophets (and) the successors of the Messengers.

Do Not Cover Up The Truth With Falsehood

وَلَا تَلْبِسُوا الْحَقَّ بِالْبَاطِلِ وَتَكْتُمُوا الْحَقَّ وَأَنتُمْ تَعْلَمُونَ
And mix not truth with falsehood, nor conceal the truth [i.e. Muhammad Peace be upon him is Allah’s Messenger and his qualities are written in your Scriptures, the Taurat (Torah) and the Injeel (Gospel)] while you know (the truth). (Soorah Al-Baqara: 42)

The Noble Shaykh Sālih al-Fawzān (may Allah preserve him) stated explaining this verse:

This is another prohibition – covering up the truth with falsehood. Meaning, mixing the truth with falsehood. That which is obligatory is that the truth be distinguished from that which is falsehood. Continue reading

Trials Reveal The True Men

Shaykhul-Islaam Ibn Taymiyyah (may Allah have mercy upon him) stated:

Not everyone who adorns himself with the Sunnah is a Sunnee. However, during the times of trials and tribulations, you will come to know the (true) men. And the protected one is the one who Allah has protected.   Continue reading
