The Noble Shaykh Ubayd al-Jaabiree (may Allah preserve him) stated:

The mistake is considered a mistake, even if the intentions (of the person committing) were sound. However, the soundness of (one’s) intentions is signified by (one’s) returning back (to the truth) from the mistake.
