Ruling on Leaving Off Fasting

Shaykh Usaamah al-‘Amri (may Allaah preserve him) mentioned that the scholars are in agreement that the one who leaves off the obligatory fast of Ramadhaan, denying the obligation of it, is a Kaafir. As for the one who leaves it off out of laziness, there are two statements. The first is that he’s a Kaafir. The second, which is the correct position, he’s not a Kaafir but a Faasiq. However Imaam adh-Dhahabi mentioned: The one who leaves off fasting is worst than the one who commits Zinaa and drinks Khamr”.

Patience Upon Trials

Shaykhul-Islaam Ibn al-Qayyim al-Jawziyyah (may Allaah have mercy upon him) stated:

Whoever from amongst them is patient upon these trials, he attains salvation from that which is greater than it. Whoever is afflicted by these trials falls into that which is more evil than it. If he follows that up with sincere repentance (then he will be safe). If not, then he will be upon the path of those who are destroyed. Based upon this the Prophet (sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) stated: “I have not left after me a trial more harmful than the women upon the men.” Therefore the servant is tested by way of his desires in the life of this world. He’s also tested by the portion of the soul that commands with evil, his devil (that accompanies him) who seeks to mislead him and beautifies (for him evil). He’s also tested by his companions and that which he witnesses, regarding which his patience is Continue reading

Delaying the Prayer Until Menses Starts

Question posed to Shaykh Saalih al-Fawzaan (may Allaah preserve him):

Question:
If the time of Salaatul-‘Eshaa comes in, however the woman doesn’t pray it in the beginning of its time, rather she delays it until the middle of its time, then she further delays it until the end of its time and then her monthly cycle comes all of a sudden–is it upon her to make up that obligatory pray which she delayed after she becomes clean from her menses or not? Also what is the ruling if the opposite was to happen? She becomes clean from her menses and the time of the obligatory Salaah from one of the five obligatory prayers is still in. Does she pray or not?

Answer:
If the woman reaches (the time of) prayer from one of the (five) prayers, and she didn’t perform it until her menses came upon her, indeed it is obligatory upon her to pray that Continue reading
