A Cure For Love

Ibn al-Qayyim (rahimahullāh) stated:

This is a disease of the heart that differs from every other disease in its nature, its causes, and its remedy. Once it enters the heart it dominates it. Even the doctors (i.e. therapists) are unable to provide a medicine for it. But the medication for this disease lies in knowing firstly that what you have been tested with conflicts with tawhīd.

Thus one should occupy himself with physical and spiritual acts of worship, which in turn would preoccupy him from constantly thinking about that woman. Make lots of du‘ā to Allah (The Most Perfect) that He turns your heart away from her and He returns it back to Him. Continue reading

There Is No Tiredness When Traveling To Allâh

Shaykhul-Islam Ibn Qayyim al-Jawziyyah (may Allâh have mercy upon him) stated:

When Moosaa traveled to al-Khidr he experienced in his travel upon his path the touch of hunger and tiredness. Therefore he said to his youth (that traveled with him):

Bring us our lunch for indeed we have experienced tiredness on this journey of ours.

Indeed (his traveling) was traveling to creation (so he experienced tiredness). However when his Lord made an appointed time for him of thirty days and completed it with ten more days, he didn’t eat during this time and he did not experience the touch of hunger or tiredness. That’s because (his travel) was traveling to his Lord the Most High. Likewise the traveling of the heart in its journey to its Lord, it doesn’t experience during it anything from suffering and tiredness like it finds when traveling to some of the creation. Three Categories of Knowing The Truth

Shaykhul-Islām Ibn al-Qayyim (raḥimahullâh) stated:

The people are divided into three categories regarding knowing the truth and acting in accordance to it. That’s because the servant (of Allâh) is either one who knows the truth or ignorant of it. And the one who knows the truth either he is one who acts in accordance to its requirements or opposes it. These are the categories of people who are (held) responsible and they don’t ever leave (from these categories). The one who knows the truth and acts in accordance to it, he is the one who is favored (by Allâh). He is the one who has purified himself with the beneficial knowledge and righteous actions and he is the one who is successful. Continue reading

The Reality of Jannah

Shaykhul-Islām Ibn al-Qayyim (may Allāh have mercy upon him) stated:

Al-Jannah is not merely a name for the trees, the fruits, the food, the drink, the women of paradise, the rivers and palaces. Most of the people make a mistake regarding the name of Al-Jannah. Indeed Al-Jannah is the name for the abode of unrestricted complete bliss. And from the greatest of the bliss in Al-Jannah is the enjoyment of looking at the Noble Face of Allah and hearing His speech. Also is the delight of the eye by being near to Him and by way of His being pleased. There’s no comparison of the pleasure in it from the food, the drink, the clothing and the images (therein) to this pleasure (of seeing the Noble face of Allāh and being near to Him).

Thank Allah For Favoring You With The Sunnah

Al-Imam al-Haafith Ibn al-Qayyim (may Allah have mercy upon him) stated:

I entered upon one of our companions and there was a matter that happened with him which caused him to cry. So I asked him about it and he said: -I remembered that which Allah has bestowed upon me of favor from the Sunnah, knowing it, being free from the doubts of the people and their false principles, being given the success to have clear intellect and sound natural disposition towards that which the Messenger came with. So (thinking about) that made me happy until it caused me to cry.

Shaykhul-Islaam Ibn al-Qayyim (may Allah have mercy upon him) stated:

When you want use something as a proof as to what is in the heart, use the movements of the tongue as a proof. For indeed it makes known that which is in the heart whether the person wills it to be that way or refuses.
