Break Your Fast Due To Moon-Sighting

The Messenger of Allâh (sallallâhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam) said: “Fast due to its sighting (i.e the new moon for the month of Ramaḍân) and break your fast due to its sighting. If it is hidden from you then complete the time (of the month of Sh`abān) as thirty days.” (Bukhāri and Muslim)

Imam Ibn Bāz (may Allâh have mercy upon him) said concerning the above ḥadīth:

The meaning of this speech is: That which is obligatory is that they (the Muslims) fast due to the sighting of the crescent and they break their fast due to the sighting of the crescent. It is not for them to fast based upon the calculations nor due to precautionary measures. It’s a must (that the fast starts) from the sighting (of the new moon) or the completion of the time (for the month of Sh`abān). Continue reading

The Character Of The Prophet In Ramaḍân

The Noble Scholar Shaykh Ibn Bāz (may Allâh have mercy upon him) stated:

Being that Allâh created His Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) upon the most complete description and the most noble of it as has come in the narration of Abu Hurayrah (may Allâh be pleased with him) the Prophet  (صلى الله عليه وسلم) said:

Indeed I have only be sent to complete the noble character.

The Messenger of Allâh (صلى الله عليه وسلم) was the most generous of all the people. Likewise he is the most noble, most courageous and most complete in all of the praiseworthy characteristics. His generosity consisted of all the categories of generosity. His generosity use to increase in Ramaḍân more so than other months just as the generosity of his Lord increases in it. Continue reading

The Ruling on Giving Zakaatul-Fitr As Money

A question posed to Imam Ibn Baaz (may Allah have mercy upon him):

Question:
I know that it is not permissible to give money for Zakaatul-Fitr and I mentioned this to my father; however, he didn’t accept it from me. He said that he doesn’t deny the Hadeeth on the Messenger of Allah; however, the country gives money (instead of food) and it’s upon us to do what some of the people do and that is to give money. However, I paid (Zakaatul-Fitr) for myself excluding my two parents – will it be accepted from me? Continue reading

The Era of Gentleness

The noble imām, ‘Abdul-‘Azīz Ibn ‘Abdullâh Ibn Bāz (rahimahullâh) said:

This era is the era of gentleness, patience and wisdom. It is not the era of harshness. The majority of the people are in a state of ignorance, heedlessness, and giving precedence to the worldly matters. So it is a must that there be patience and gentleness so that the da’wah spreads and reaches the people in order that they come to know (the correct religion). And we ask Allâh to guide all of us.

Is The Tree That Has Grown On The Grave An Evidence For The Inhabitant’s Righteousness?

Question Posed To Imam Ibn Baaz (may Allah have mercy upon him):

Question: I have come to see that some of the people, upon seeing a tree growing on any grave, describe the inhabitant of the grave as a (righteous) character whose degree (of piety and righteousness) is such and such. Does the growing of trees upon the graves have any connection (with the righteousness of the inhabitant of the grave)? Continue reading
