Cultivating Children Upon Islamic – Not Western – Cultivation

The Noble Shaykh Saalih al-Fawzaan (may Allah preserve him) stated:

It is known that obligations are not (mandated) upon the child who hasn’t reached puberty–not the prayer or other than it until he (or she) reaches puberty. The Messenger of Allah (sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) stated:

The pen is lifted from three (people).  The one sleeping until he awakes. The child until he has a wet dream (i.e reaches puberty). And from the insane person until he comes to his senses.

However the child is commanded with making it. Therefore his guardian commands him with the prayer when he reaches the age of seven and he has with him (the ability to) distinguish (between matters) and he knows what is said to him and that which he is commanded with. Therefore he is to be commanded with the prayer, not because it is obligatory upon him, he is only commanded with it as an exercise for him. Meaning as a means of getting him accustomed to the prayer until he becomes trained upon making it and he knows its importance. And as a result he grows up upon that so when he reaches puberty he is accustomed to the prayer. Continue reading

Continue reading

Al-Jamaa’ah as-Salafiyyah is The Original Jamaa’ah

Question posed to The Noble Shaykh Saalih al-Fawzaan (may Allah preserve him):

Question: Some of the people have claimed that as-Salafiyyah is considered a group from among the active groups present today and its ruling is the ruling of the rest of the groups. What is your refutation for this claim?

Answer: We have mentioned that al-Jamaa’ah as-Salafiyyah is the original Jamaa’ah which is upon the truth, which is obligatory to connect oneself to, work with and ascribe oneself to. That which is other than it from the groups, it’s obligatory that they are not considered to be from the groups of Islamic Da’wah because they are in opposition (to the truth). And how can we follow a group that’s in opposition to the Jamaa’ah of Ahl as-Sunnah and the guidance of the Salaf as-Saalih?! Continue reading

Criticizing People Without Evidences

The Noble Shaykh Rabee ibn Haadi al-Madkhalee (may Allah preserve him) stated:

If you do not come with the evidences and reasons for this criticism (that you have made against individuals), the people would see that you have oppressed them, transgressed the boundaries against them and have attacked their practice of the religion without right. Therefore you now become the one who is being accused (of something evil) and you are in need of freeing your practice of the religion and honor (from the accusation of evil).

Hastily Spreading Misunderstandings Between Brothers

The ‘Allaamah, Shaykh Muhammad bin Haadi (may Allah have mercy upon him) stated:

When there takes place a misunderstanding between two individuals from the brothers, some of them begin to write against others although both of them are upon one path, one methodology and upon (taking knowledge from) the same shuyookh. This path is not good. If you have an observance against him (i.e your brother), this is your brother, give it to him. As for exposing it on the internet, sending it (to others) on the internet and writing it on the net, then this is from the spreading of the faults which is not permissible.

As for the matter of knowledge, this is another affair. As for the matter of refuting the mistakes which the people who committed them are going astray, this is another affair also. And even in the matter of the mistakes, you have from it that which is private and that which is public. Therefore that which is private is not suitable to spread in a public manner. As for that which has circulated, become publicly known and spread among the people, the refutation against it is to be circulated, publicly known and that which is correct is to be spread among the people in order that the people know it and they correct the mistake. Is it Permissible to go Out With Jamaa’at-ut-Tabligh?

Question posed to Shaykh Saalih al-Fawzaan (may Allah preserve him):

Is going out for the period of a month or a certain amount of weeks or days like al-Jamaa’at ut-Tabligh, Sunnah or Bid’ah? Is it permissible for a person to go with this Jamaa’ah to learn the legislated knowledge?

Answer:

This is not permissible, this is an innovation, going out for forty days or four months or four days, this is a innovation and this is a Jamaa’at-us-Sufiyyah. It has been established that it is a Jama’at-us-Sufiyyah Deobandiyyah (ascription to a village in India from which arose the Deobandi ideology).

They have infiltrated to our lands and other than it for the purpose of spreading sufiyyah (sufism). It is not permissible for a person of Sunnah, a person of Tawheed to go out with them because his going with them is aiding them in spreading their innovation. The people will use that as an evidence, they will say so and so has gone with them! Or the people have gone with them! Or the people of that land… Continue reading

Foundations of Good Character and Mannerisms

Points From The Friday Khutbah by Abu Yusuf Khaleefah (hafidhahullaah):

  1. The Prophet Muhammad (sallal laahu ‘alaihi wasallam) was the best of the people in character. Allah stated to him:
“And indeed you are upon exalted character.” (Soorah Al-Qalam: 4)
  1. He (sallal laahu ‘alaihi wasallam) was sent to perfect the character of the people. He said, “Indeed I have only been sent to perfect the moral character” [1].
  2. Those who have good character are from the best of the people. The Prophet (sallal laahu ‘alaihi wasallam) said, “Indeed the best of you are those who are the best in character” [2].
  3. Those who have bad character are the worst of the people. The Prophet (sallal laahu ‘alaihi wasallam) said about the man who sought permission to enter, and before he entered the Prophet (sallal laahu ‘alaihi wasallam) said about him, “What an evil member or brother of his tribe he is.” When he entered the Prophet was kind to him and gentle. After the man left the Prophet (sallal laahu ‘alaihi wasallam) was questioned about his actions with the man and he responded, “Indeed the worst of the people is the one who the people keep away from out of fear of his bad behavior.”
  4. The most heavy of the things on the scales is having good character. The Prophet said, “Indeed the most heavy of things on the scales is good character” [3].
