The ‘Allaamah, Shaykh Muhammad bin Haadi (may Allah have mercy upon him) stated:
When there takes place a misunderstanding between two individuals from the brothers, some of them begin to write against others although both of them are upon one path, one methodology and upon (taking knowledge from) the same shuyookh. This path is not good. If you have an observance against him (i.e your brother), this is your brother, give it to him. As for exposing it on the internet, sending it (to others) on the internet and writing it on the net, then this is from the spreading of the faults which is not permissible.
As for the matter of knowledge, this is another affair. As for the matter of refuting the mistakes which the people who committed them are going astray, this is another affair also. And even in the matter of the mistakes, you have from it that which is private and that which is public. Therefore that which is private is not suitable to spread in a public manner. As for that which has circulated, become publicly known and spread among the people, the refutation against it is to be circulated, publicly known and that which is correct is to be spread among the people in order that the people know it and they correct the mistake. The Noble Shaykh Rabee ibn Haadi al-Madkhalee (may Allah preserve him) stated:
If you do not come with the evidences and reasons for this criticism (that you have made against individuals), the people would see that you have oppressed them, transgressed the boundaries against them and have attacked their practice of the religion without right. Therefore you now become the one who is being accused (of something evil) and you are in need of freeing your practice of the religion and honor (from the accusation of evil).

Shaykh Saalih Ibn Fawzaan al-Fawzaan was asked:
Question: Many people say that those who refute the people of bid’ah are the cause of separation.
Yes, separation between the truth and the falsehood – this is correct. We make a distinction between truth and the falsehood and (also between) the people of truth and the people of falsehood. We are going to refute (the people of falsehood), and the Scholars refuted (the people of falsehood). This is not for the purpose of causing division; this is to gather the people upon the truth, because with people remaining upon misguidance and upon the speech of falsehood, then this causes division between the Muslims. As for clarifying the truth for the people, so they can gather upon it, then this is the da’wah towards unity, not the da’wah towards separation. The da’wah towards separation is when it is said, ‘The people of falsehood are not to be refuted.’ This is the da’wah to division if they only gave thought. Continue reading
The Noble Shaykh Zayd al-Madkhalee (may Allah have mercy upon him) stated:
Indeed I confirm with certainty that the books of refutation have within it mercy for the people in general and for those who have been refuted specifically. None comprehends that except for those with sound intellect from among the people. Therefore understand (this matter), may Allah take you under His care, and don’t think anything except for good about the one who refutes the mistaken ideologies.
