A Time When Holding On To The Deen Is Like Holding Onto Hot Coal

Explanation of the Hadeeth By Imaam Ibn Baaz (may Allah have mercy upon him):

Question:
The Messenger of Allah (sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said: “There will come a time upon my ummah in which the one holding on to his Deen is like the one holding on to a hot piece of coal from the fire.” Is this Hadeeth authentic, and if it is can you explain it for us? May Allah reward you with good.

Answer:
There’s no harm with it as far as we know. There’s no harm with it. It’s a good narration. It’s meaning is that there will come upon a person something from the calamities, the test, the trails which harm him to the point where he’s like the one who is holding on to the hot piece of coal throughout the trials and tribulation. This is due to the severity of his patience upon his Deen, upon his Emaan and being established upon it to where he’s like one who holds on to the hot piece of coal tightly due to the severity of pain and hardship that befalls him in that. The time of trials and tribulations is the time of harm from the enemy. And the refuge is sought with Allah. This is a reality that has taken place. Continue reading

One Does Not Cease To Seek (Religious) Knowledge

Shaykhul-Islaam Ibn Taymiyyah (may Allah have mercy upon him) stated:

The person does not cease to seek the knowledge (of the religion) and faith. When something from the (matters of) knowledge becomes clear to him that which was hidden from him, he follows it. This person is not (to be considered) one who wavers back and forth. Rather this person is one who is guided, one who Allah has increased in guidance.

Question Oft-Repeated By The Ignorant

Question:
Why have you left off the Jews and the Christians but you backbite the religious callers of the Muslims?

Answer:
Shaykhul-Islaam Ibn Taymiyyah (may Allah have mercy upon him) stated: The corruption of the Jews and the Christians is apparent to the general masses of the Muslims. As for the people of innovation, their corruption is not apparent to every person.

Weighing Statements According to Men

Shaykhul-Islaam Ibn Taymiyyah (may Allah have mercy upon him) stated:

Many from amongst the people weigh statements according to men. If one of them believes concerning a person that he is magnified (i.e. has status), then his statements will be accepted even if they are falsehood, opposing the Kitaab and the Sunnah. Rather in this case (you’ll find that the one who accepts these statements) will not listen to the one who refutes that statement (of falsehood) with the Kitaab and the Sunnah. Rather (the one who accepts the statement) deems the one who made the statement (to be) infallible. And when he believes concerning a person that they don’t have status, he rejects the statements (of that person) even if they are the truth. Therefore he deems the one who makes the statement as the reason for accepting (the statement) or rejecting it without weighing the statement according to the Kitaab and the Sunnah.

‘Alee Ibn Abee Taalib (may Allah be pleased with him) said to al-Haarith Ibn Hoot when he said to him: “Oh Alee, do you think that Talhah and az-Zubayr were upon falsehood and you were upon the truth?” Alee said in response: “No oh Haarith, the matter is confusing to you. Know the truth and you will know its people. For indeed the truth is not known by the men, rather the men are only known by the truth.” Continue reading

Reciting The Qur’aan Like It Is Music

Shaykh ‘Abdul-‘Azeez Ibn Baaz (may Allah have mercy upon him) stated:

It is not permissible for the believer to recite the Qur’aan in an incorrect manner as if it was music, upon the way of the musicians. Rather it is obligatory that the person recites it just as our Salafus-Saaalih recited it with proper recitation, being sad and with fear (of Allah).

Continue reading

Wrongfully Attributing a Statement to a Person

The Noble Allaamah Shaykh Rabee’ Ibn Haadi al-Madkhalee (may Allah preserve him) stated:

The Haddaadiyyah have for themselves an evil principle. And it is whenever they attribute to a person a statement which he is free from and he makes publicly known that he is free from it, they continue to accuse that oppressed person (of that statement which he is free from) which they attributed to him. Therefore they have surpassed the Khawaarij with this evil principle.
