Supplicate to Allah For Your Companions
It has been narrated that ‘Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) missed a man from the people of al-Shaam who used to attend his sittings.
He said to his companions, “What has so and so the son of so and so done?” They said, “Oh commander of the believers he has gone about drinking alcohol and we haven’t seen him for days.” ‘Umar called for his writer and said:
“Write: From ‘Umar Ibn al-Khattaab to so and so, Salaamu ‘Alaikum. As to what follows: I praise Allah to you, the One whom none has the right to be worshiped except for Him, The Forgiver of the sins, The One who accepts the repentance, The One who is severe in punishment, none has the right to be worshiped except for Him and to Him is the return.” Continue reading

Return The Blame To Yourself And Seek Forgiveness
Shaykhul-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah (may Allah have mercy upon him) stated:
When you see the servant talking about the people when they have harmed him whilst he (the servant) doesn’t return the blame back to himself and seek forgiveness (from Allah), then know that his calamity is a true calamity. However when he repents, seeks forgiveness and says “This is due to my sins,” then this matter (of being harmed by the people) will become a blessing for him. Continue reading
Seeking The Reward For Patience
The Noble Shaykh Muhammad Ibn Saalih al-‘Uthaymeen (may Allah have mercy upon) stated:
If the person faces the calamities (that befall him) with patience without seeking the reward (for being patient), it becomes an expiation for his sins. If he is patient along with seeking the reward (for being patient), then it becomes a reward along with it being an expiation of the sins. The meaning of seeking the reward is that the person believes within himself that he will be rewarded for this patience, therefore having a good thought about Allah. So Allah gives him (the good) which he thought about Him.

Perform The Ruqyah Upon Yourself
Question Posed To Shaykh Saalih al-Fawzaan (may Allah preserve him):
May Allah treat you with good, Noble Shaykh. This questioner asks: “If there is someone who is stronger than me in faith, piety and knowledge, and I know that I am upon acts of disobedience to Allah and my faith is weak, can I request from this person to perform the ruqyah upon me, or is it better that I perform it upon myself?”
The Noble Shaykh Saalih al-Fawzaan (may Allah preserve him) responded:
Perform the ruqyah upon yourself. Don’t seek the ruqyah (from someone else). Be independent from the people even if you are one who is disobedient (to Allah). Is it mandatory that you have to be a complete (believer), not having committed any acts of disobedience?! None of us – and there is no might of power except with Allah – are free from acts of disobedience. Continue reading
