Being Patient Upon The Harm of The People

 وَلَمَن صَبَرَ وَغَفَرَ إِنَّ ذَٰلِكَ لَمِنْ عَزْمِ الْأُمُورِ

“And verily, whosoever shows patience and forgives that would truly be from the things recommended by Allah.” (Soorah ash-Shooraa: 43)

The noble Imaam Shaykh Muhammad Ibn Saalih al-‘Uthaymeen (may Allaah have mercy upon him) stated commenting on this verse:

This means the one who is patient upon the harm of the people, endures them and pardons them for the evil deeds. The evil deeds which they have done towards him, indeed that is from the affairs of firm resolve. Meaning by that the firm affairs and serious affairs that are in need of being faced and shown endurance on top of one’s patience. This is the case especially when the harm that the person is encountering is due to his Jihaad (striving) for the sake of Allah and due to his obedience to Allah. That is due to the harm of  people coming as a result of many different matters. Therefore if the reason (of him being harmed) is a result of his obedience to Allah, his Jihaad for the sake of Allah, the commanding of that which is right and the forbidding of that which is wrong, indeed the person is rewarded for that from two angles. Patience Upon Trials

Shaykhul-Islaam Ibn al-Qayyim al-Jawziyyah (may Allaah have mercy upon him) stated:

Whoever from amongst them is patient upon these trials, he attains salvation from that which is greater than it. Whoever is afflicted by these trials falls into that which is more evil than it. If he follows that up with sincere repentance (then he will be safe). If not, then he will be upon the path of those who are destroyed. Based upon this the Prophet (sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) stated: “I have not left after me a trial more harmful than the women upon the men.” Therefore the servant is tested by way of his desires in the life of this world. He’s also tested by the portion of the soul that commands with evil, his devil (that accompanies him) who seeks to mislead him and beautifies (for him evil). He’s also tested by his companions and that which he witnesses, regarding which his patience is Continue reading

Shaytaan Desires a Far Straying

Al-Imaam Shaykh Muhammad ibn Saalih al-‘Uthaymeen (may Allaah have mercy upon him) stated:

The Shaytaan wants that the children of Aadam stray with a far staying and not a near straying (one that’s close to the truth). Allaah stated: “And the Shaytaan wants to lead them far astray.” However we are not to think that the Shaytaan commands (the people) with (going) far astray from the onset. Rather (he does it) in stages. So he commands with Fisq (corruption) and the lesser acts of disobedience. Then (he commands with) the major sins. Then (he commands with) the disbelief (in Allaah). We ask Allaah to protect us.  Based upon this the ‘Ulamaa have said: The acts of disobedience are the Bareed  (path) to al-Kufr…The scholars have mentioned that the acts of disobedience are the path to al-Kufr and the Shaytaan takes the person in stages, step by step until the point he destroys him.”

The Fitnah of Wealth is More Than the Fitnah of Children

Question posed to Imaam Ibn Baaz (may Allaah have mercy upon him):

Question:
The mentioning of the wealth always come before the mentioning of the children in the Qur’aan although the children are more precious with the parent than his wealth. What is the wisdom behind that?

Answer:
The fitnah of the wealth is more (than the fitnah of the children). That’s because the wealth aids him upon fulfilling the prohibited desires and other than that. This is different from the children. Indeed it’s possible that the parent is tested by them and he disobeys Allaah due to them. However the fitnah of wealth is greater and more severe. Based upon this, Allaah began with (mentioning) the wealth before the children. Like in His statement: “It is not your wealth or your children which gets you closer to Us.” (Saba: 37) And His statement: “Indeed your wealth and your children are only a test.” (At-Taghaabun: 15) And His statement: “Oh you who believe, do not let your wealth nor your children divert you from the remembrance of Allaah. Whoever does so then those are the ones whom are the losers.” (Al-Munaafiqoon: 9) Continue reading

Do Not Make Your Homes Graveyards

On the authority of Abu Hurayrah (may Allaah be pleased with him), the Messenger of Allaah (sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) stated: “Do not make your homes graveyards. Indeed the Shaytaan flees from the home which Soorah al-Baqarah is recited in.” (Saheeh Muslim 780)

Shaykh al-‘Allaamah al-Muhaddith Muhammad ibn Aadam al-Ethiyoobe (may Allaah preserve him) mentioned some benefits from this Hadeeth:

1. Encouragement to pray Salaatun-Naafilah (superogatory prayers) in the homes.

2. The prohibition of taken the house as a place that is abandoned like the graves, you do not pray in it nor remember Allaah in it.

3. Encouragement to recite Soorah al-Baqarah in the house. Continue reading

Tafseer of Soorah al-Munaafiqoon: 9 – Imaam Ibn Baz (rahimahullaah)

يا أيها الذين آمنوا لا تلهكم أموالكم ولا أولادكم عن ذكر الله ومن يفعل ذلك فأولئك هم الخاسرون

“O you who believe! Let not your properties or your children divert you from the remembrance of Allah. And whosoever does that, then they are the losers.” (Soorah al-Munaafiqoon: 9)

Imaam Ibn Baaz (may Allaah have mercy upon him) stated about this verse:

In this noble verse Allaah has directed His commandment towards His believing servants. He also prohibits them from becoming busied and pre-occupied from the remembrance of Him by way of their wealth or their children. He has clarified that whoever does so is from amongst the losers. Allaah stated:

“O you who believe! Let not your properties or your children divert you from the Continue reading
