Shaykh Haani al-Burayk (may Allah preserve him) stated:
The error (of a person) is to be refuted no matter who he is. The Da’wah is preserved by way of preserving its principles and regulations. It is not preserved by way of preserving individuals/personalities. Individuals come and go. Some are firm and some slip.
Shaykh Sulaymaan ar-Ruhaylee (may Allah preserve him) stated:
I truly say that every (Imaam) from our Imaams, whether from our Imaams of the past or our Imaams of the latter times, (then not one of them) restricted the truth to his statement(s). Likewise, I don’t know of an Imaam from the Imaams of the Muslims whose statement(s) are void of the truth (in totality). This is the just (stance regarding this matter). Continue reading
وَلَمَن صَبَرَ وَغَفَرَ إِنَّ ذَٰلِكَ لَمِنْ عَزْمِ الْأُمُورِ
“And verily, whosoever shows patience and forgives that would truly be from the things recommended by Allah.” (Soorah ash-Shooraa: 43)
The noble Imaam Shaykh Muhammad Ibn Saalih al-‘Uthaymeen (may Allaah have mercy upon him) stated commenting on this verse:
This means the one who is patient upon the harm of the people, endures them and pardons them for the evil deeds. The evil deeds which they have done towards him, indeed that is from the affairs of firm resolve. Meaning by that the firm affairs and serious affairs that are in need of being faced and shown endurance on top of one’s patience. This is the case especially when the harm that the person is encountering is due to his Jihaad (striving) for the sake of Allah and due to his obedience to Allah. That is due to the harm of people coming as a result of many different matters. Therefore if the reason (of him being harmed) is a result of his obedience to Allah, his Jihaad for the sake of Allah, the commanding of that which is right and the forbidding of that which is wrong, indeed the person is rewarded for that from two angles. Shaykh Usaamah al-‘Amri (may Allaah preserve him) mentioned that the scholars are in agreement that the one who leaves off the obligatory fast of Ramadhaan, denying the obligation of it, is a Kaafir. As for the one who leaves it off out of laziness, there are two statements. The first is that he’s a Kaafir. The second, which is the correct position, he’s not a Kaafir but a Faasiq. However Imaam adh-Dhahabi mentioned: The one who leaves off fasting is worst than the one who commits Zinaa and drinks Khamr”.
