ولهذا لما أضاف الإمام أحمدُ عبدَ الصمد بن سليمان – وهو أحد أصحاب الحديث – وحان موعد النوم قرَّب له ماءً ليتوضأ منه أو ليستعمله فنام ، فلما أتى الصباح رأى الإمام أحمد هذا الماء لم ينقص ، فسأله فقال : لم أستعمل الماء . فقال له أحمد : صاحب حديث وليس له وِرْد في الليل ؟ أي لم تقم الليل حتى الصباح ، ولم تتعبد ولم تُصَلِّ ركعتين . قال : إني مسافر .
قال : ولو كنت مسافرًا . يعني : أين الوتر ؟

A man came to the Prophet ﷺ and said, “Indeed my brother is having a stomach ailment.” The Messenger of Allāh ﷺ said, “Give him honey.” So the man gave him (his brother) honey.
