Nine Matters One May Die From, From Which the Prophet ﷺ Sought Refuge, Which Has Come In One Ḥadīth

Bismillāh. Ar-Raḥmān Ar-Rahīm.

On the authority of Abu Al-Yusr Ka’b Ibn ‘Amru (may Allāh be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to supplicate with these words:

Oh Allah! I seek refuge with You from (dying due to the) destruction/collapsing (of a structure upon me). I seek refuge with You from (dying due to) deterioration. I seek refuge with You from (dying due to) drowning. I seek refuge with You from (dying due to) worry. I seek refuge with You from (dying due to) burning (alive). I seek refuge with you from (dying due to) decrepitude. I seek refuge with You from the Shayṭān taking me away (from the Straight Path) at the time of death. I seek refuge with You from dying on your path with my back turned (towards the enemy, running away from battle). I seek refuge with You from dying due to being stung/bit (by something poisonous). A Moment in History

When Ibrahim Pasha killed Shaykh Sulaymān Ibn ‘Abdillāh Ibn Muḥammad Ibn ‘Abdil-Waḥḥāb (may Allāh have mercy upon them all), he wanted to enrage Shaykh Sulaymān’s father, Shaykh ‘Abdullāh Ibn Muhammad Ibn ‘Abdil-Waḥḥāb (may Allāh have mercy upon them both). Pasha said to the Shaykh, “We killed your son Sulaymān.” Continue reading →

A Sitting with Shaykh Waseeyullah ‘Abbaas

All praise is for Allah. May the Salaah and Salaam be upon the Messenger of Allah.  As to what follows:

We visited the Shaykh, the Muhaddith (scholar of Hadeeth) Waseeyullaah ‘Abbaas (may Allah preserve him) in his home in Makkah.  He hosted us as guests, may Allah reward him with good, and received us in a good manner.  We sat with him for over an hour and a half.  He gave to myself as well as the brothers who were there with me precious, valuable pieces of advice and instructions.  From them: Continue reading →

A Powerful Refutation of the Ash’arees by Shaykh Muhammad Aman al-Jami (rahimahullaah)

The Noble Scholar, Shaykh Muhammad Amaan al-Jaami (may Allah have mercy upon him) stated:

If the Ash’aree says to you: “Indeed Allah (‘azza wa-jall) does not come down during the last third of the night (to the lowest heavens); rather it is only His command that comes down.” Say to him: “His command comes down from who?.” He will say: “It comes down from Allah.” Say to him: “This is what we wanted.” Therefore, he (the Ash’aree) has established that Allah is above the heavens.
