Obligating Others to Take Your Viewpoint

Shaykhul-Islaam Ibn Taymiyyah (may Allah have mercy upon him) said:

It is not for anyone to take a covenant from someone that he agrees to everything that he (the one taking the covenant) wants, have an alliance with those who are in alliance with him and enmity to those who show enmity towards him.

Al-‘Allaamah ash-Shaykh Rabee’ (may Allah preserve him) commented:

It’s possible that the taking of a covenant from a person is not by (actual) speech. How it takes place, is when it is as if the person (taking the covenant) by way of his state (of behavior and stance) says with his tongue, ‘It’s a must that you take my view.’ We free ourselves to Allah every time the person takes our statement with his desires. This is something that Allah is not pleased with. If two people fall into dispute and you aid the one who you see to be upon the truth, even if the truth is with him but you aid him based upon your desires, you’re sinful. That’s because it is obligatory that you do things for the sake of Allah. You do not want anything except for the truth. And you do not support anything except for the truth. Allah states:

Following The Truth Even If The Followers Are Few

Shaykh ‘Abdullāh Ibn ‘Abdur-Rahman Aba Batīn, may Allāh have mercy upon him, said:

And a person, if the truth becomes clear to him, should not be discouraged by the fewness of those who agree with him in that, and the great number of those who oppose him — especially in these latter times.

And as for the statement of the ignoramus: ‘If this is indeed true, then it would not have been hidden from so and so!’ This is the very claim of the disbelievers, as in their statement:

لو كان خيرا ما سبقونا إليه

At-Tadarruj Fee ad-Da’wah (Gradual Steps Taken In Calling to Islaam)

Al-Imaam al-Bukhaaree (rahimahullaah) stated:

Chapter: The One Who Leaves Off Some of The Choices Out of Fear That Some of The People Will Not Understand and Fall Into That Which Is More Severe Than It.

On the authority of al-Aswad, who said: Ibn az-Zubair said to me: “‘Aaishah (may Allaah be pleased with her) used to secretly tell you many things. What did she narrate to you concerning the Ka’bah?” I said: She said to me that the Prophet (salallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said:

(( Oh A’aishah, had it not been for your people being new (to Islaam) and leaving off disbelief, I would tear the Ka’bah down and make for it two doors: a door for the people to enter into and a door for them to exit from. ))

The Actions Give The Tazkiyyah

Shaykh Ahmad Baazmool mentioned:

The tazkiyyah of a person is based upon his actions and statements that are in agreement with the Salaf from the aspect of Aqeedah, Manhaj, truthfulness and justice. It is as our caring father Rabee’ al-Madkhalee has stated: Indeed, the actions of the person are that which give him a tazkiyyah. It is that which proves his truthfulness from his un-truthfulness.

The Error Is Refuted No Matter Who He Is

Shaykh Haani al-Burayk (may Allah preserve him) stated:

The error (of a person) is to be refuted no matter who he is. The Da’wah is preserved by way of preserving its principles and regulations. It is not preserved by way of preserving individuals/personalities. Individuals come and go. Some are firm and some slip.

No Imaam Restricted The Truth To His Own Statements

Shaykh Sulaymaan ar-Ruhaylee (may Allah preserve him) stated:

I truly say that every (Imaam) from our Imaams, whether from our Imaams of the past or our Imaams of the latter times, (then not one of them) restricted the truth to his statement(s). Being Patient Upon The Harm of The People

 وَلَمَن صَبَرَ وَغَفَرَ إِنَّ ذَٰلِكَ لَمِنْ عَزْمِ الْأُمُورِ

“And verily, whosoever shows patience and forgives that would truly be from the things recommended by Allah.” (Soorah ash-Shooraa: 43)

The noble Imaam Shaykh Muhammad Ibn Saalih al-‘Uthaymeen (may Allaah have mercy upon him) stated commenting on this verse:

This means the one who is patient upon the harm of the people, endures them and pardons them for the evil deeds. The evil deeds which they have done towards him, indeed that is from the affairs of firm resolve. Meaning by that the firm affairs and serious affairs that are in need of being faced and shown endurance on top of one’s patience. This is the case especially when the harm that the person is encountering is due to his Jihaad (striving) for the sake of Allah and due to his obedience to Allah. That is due to the harm of  people coming as a result of many different matters. Therefore if the reason (of him being harmed) is a result of his obedience to Allah, his Jihaad for the sake of Allah, the commanding of that which is right and the forbidding of that which is wrong, indeed the person is rewarded for that from two angles.
