الصيام تربية في الحقيقة

:قال العلامة ابن مفلح رحمه الله تعالى

قال أحمد -رحمه الله تعالى-: ينبغي للصائم أن يتعاهد صومه من لسانه ولا يماري ويصون صومه؛ كانوا إذا صاموا قعدوا في المساجد وقالوا: نحفظ صومنا ولا نغتاب أحدا ولا يعمل عملا يجرح به صومه. قال الأصحاب -رحمهم الله-: يسن له كثرة القراءة والذكر والصدقة وكف لسانه عما يكره ويجب كفه عما يحرم من الكذب والغيبة والنميمة والشتم والفحش ونحو ذلك. قال العلامة الشيخ العثيمين رحمه الله تعالى: وقوله -رحمه الله- يجب اجتناب هذه الأشياء يدل على أن الصيام تربية في الحقيقة وأن الإنسان إذا صام شهرا كاملا وقد حجز نفسه عن هذه المحرمات فسوف يتأثر ويتأقلم وتختلف حاله، أما حال الكثير من الناس اليوم فالغالب أنه لا يؤثر لأنهم في النهار في أكثره نائمون وفي الليل ساهرون

Treating Oneself With Honey

This is a benefit from last night’s class in which our Shaykh, the Allāmah Muḥammad Ibn ‘Alī Ibn Ādam Al-Etiyūbī (may Allāh preserve him) mentioned in his explanation of Ḥadeeth #2217 of Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim:

A man came to the Prophet ﷺ and said, “Indeed my brother is having a stomach ailment.” The Messenger of Allāh ﷺ said, “Give him honey.” So the man gave him (his brother) honey. Then the man came to him (the Messenger ﷺ) again and said, “Indeed I gave him the honey and it did not increase him except in stomach pains.” Continue reading →

Nine Matters One May Die From, From Which the Prophet ﷺ Sought Refuge, Which Has Come In One Ḥadīth

Bismillāh. Ar-Raḥmān Ar-Rahīm.

On the authority of Abu Al-Yusr Ka’b Ibn ‘Amru (may Allāh be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to supplicate with these words:

Oh Allah! I seek refuge with You from (dying due to the) destruction/collapsing (of a structure upon me). I seek refuge with You from (dying due to) deterioration. I seek refuge with You from (dying due to) drowning. I seek refuge with You from (dying due to) worry. I seek refuge with You from (dying due to) burning (alive). I seek refuge with you from (dying due to) decrepitude. I seek refuge with You from the Shayṭān taking me away (from the Straight Path) at the time of death. I seek refuge with You from dying on your path with my back turned (towards the enemy, running away from battle). I seek refuge with You from dying due to being stung/bit (by something poisonous).
