The Secret Of The Salaah

Shaykhul-Islaam Ibn Al-Qayyim Al-Jawziyyah (may Allah have mercy upon him) stated:

The secret of the Salaah, its soul and core is the slave’s turning to Allah in totality whilst in the prayer. Therefore, just as it is not befitting that he turns his face away from the Qiblah to other than it during the Salaah, it is likewise not befitting to turn his heart away from his Lord to other than Him during the Salaah. Rather he (the slave) makes the Ka’bah, which is the house of Allah, the Qiblah of his face and body. (Likewise) he makes the Lord of the House the Qiblah of his heart and soul. So according to how much the servant turns to Allah in his Salaah, (then this) will determine how much Allah turns towards him. And if he (the slave) was to turn away, then Allah will turn away from him. And (the saying goes): “as he lives, he is treated (accordingly).” Continue reading →

Delaying the Prayer Until Menses Starts

Question posed to Shaykh Saalih al-Fawzaan (may Allaah preserve him):

Question:
If the time of Salaatul-‘Eshaa comes in, however the woman doesn’t pray it in the beginning of its time, rather she delays it until the middle of its time, then she further delays it until the end of its time and then her monthly cycle comes all of a sudden–is it upon her to make up that obligatory pray which she delayed after she becomes clean from her menses or not? Also what is the ruling if the opposite was to happen? She becomes clean from her menses and the time of the obligatory Salaah from one of the five obligatory prayers is still in. Does she pray or not?

Answer:
If the woman reaches (the time of) prayer from one of the (five) prayers, and she didn’t perform it until her menses came upon her, indeed it is obligatory upon her to pray that Continue reading →
