Be Wary Of The Duaa That’s Common On The Tongue of Many Muslims

The Noble Shaykh Saalih al-Fawzaan (may Allah preserve him) stated:

Many people believe that the Prophet (sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam) is the one who will give (the people a drink of) water from the Pond. This we hear and read in their supplication: “Oh Allah give us a drink from his noble hand which we will never be thirsty after it (again).”

This belief is a mistake for (different) reasons:

1. In all of the narrations concerning the Pond, this (dua) is not established by any of them.

2. It is established in the Saheeh that the Prophet (sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam) informed that whoever passes by the Pond will drink from it. So he connected the drinking (from the Pond) in the Hadeeth to passing by it, and not to the Prophet (sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam) giving drink (to the people).

3. The Prophet (sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam) has indeed informed that the amount of drinking vessels (around the Pond) is equivalent to the amount of stars in the heavens. This indicates that everyone who passes by the Pond will drink on his own.
