Ibn Mas’ood (may Allah be pleased with him) came out upon a people who were speaking in the Masjid after the Adhaan so he prohibited them from talking. He said:

Indeed you have only come for the prayer, so either you pray or remain silent. For indeed, I heard the Messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه وسلم say:

ﺳَﻴَﻜُﻮﻥُ ﻓِﻲ ﺁﺧِﺮِ ﺍﻟﺰَّﻣَﺎﻥِ ﻗَﻮْﻡٌ ﻳَﺠْﻠِﺴُﻮﻥَ ﻓِﻲ ﺍﻟْﻤَﺴَﺎﺟِﺪِ ﺣِﻠَﻘًﺎ ﺣِﻠَﻘًﺎ ﺇِﻣَﺎﻣُﻬُﻢُ ﺍﻟﺪُّﻧْﻴَﺎ ، ﻓَﻼ ﺗُﺠَﺎﻟِﺴُﻮﻫُﻢْ ، ﻓَﺈِﻧَّﻪُ ﻟَﻴْﺲَ ﻟِﻠَّﻪِ ﻓِﻴﻬِﻢْ ﺣَﺎﺟَﺔٌ .
There will be at the end of the time people who sit in the Masaajid, circles upon circles. Their leader is the Dunyaa. Don’t sit with them for surely Allah has no need for them.

هذا يقع فيه كثير من الناس
تحذير لكل من يجلس في المسجد ويتكلم في الدنيا سواء شبابا أو شيبا

 ﺧﺮﺝ اﺑﻦ ﻣﺴﻌﻮﺩ ﻋﻠﻰ ﻗﻮﻡ ﻳﺘﺤﺪﺛﻮن ﺑﻌﺪ ﺍﻷﺫﺍﻥ ﻓﻲ ﺍﻟﻤﺴﺠﺪ ﻓﻨﻬﺎﻫﻢ ﻋﻦ ﺍﻟﺤﺪﻳﺚ ﻭﻗﺎﻝ : ﺇﻧﻤﺎ ﺟﺌﺘﻢ ﻟﻠﺼﻼﺓ فإﻣﺎ ﺃﻥ ﺗﺼﻠﻮﺍ ﻭﺇﻣﺎ ﺃﻥ ﺗﺴﻜﺘﻮﺍ ؛ ﻓﺈﻧﻲ ﺳﻤﻌﺖ ﺭَﺳُﻮﻝ ﺍﻟﻠَّﻪِ
ﺻَﻠَّﻰ ﺍﻟﻠَّﻪُ ﻋَﻠَﻴْﻪِ ﻭَﺳَﻠَّﻢَ ﻳﻘﻮﻝ :

ﺳَﻴَﻜُﻮﻥُ ﻓِﻲ ﺁﺧِﺮِ ﺍﻟﺰَّﻣَﺎﻥِ
ﻗَﻮْﻡٌ ﻳَﺠْﻠِﺴُﻮﻥَ ﻓِﻲ ﺍﻟْﻤَﺴَﺎﺟِﺪِ
ﺣِﻠَﻘًﺎ ﺣِﻠَﻘًﺎ ﺇِﻣَﺎﻣُﻬُﻢُ ﺍﻟﺪُّﻧْﻴَﺎ ،
ﻓَﻼ ﺗُﺠَﺎﻟِﺴُﻮﻫُﻢْ ،
ﻓَﺈِﻧَّﻪُ ﻟَﻴْﺲَ ﻟِﻠَّﻪِ ﻓِﻴﻬِﻢْ ﺣَﺎﺟَﺔٌ .
