Imaam Al-Albaani (may Allaah have mercy upon him) stated:

It’s a must that something from the slaughtered animal be given in charity without designating a specific amount, as some have claimed. (They claimed that it be divided into) thirds: a third that the person eats during the Eid, a third that the person gives in charity, and a third that the person stores. This dividing of the meat into thirds has no origin. The case is only that the meat be divided into three categories (to be given), without designating the amount to be given. This is what has come (in the narration). This is because the Prophet (sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam) said: “I used to prohibit you from storing the meat of the slaughtered animal.
