Advice from Shaykh Ahmad ibn Yahyaa an-Najmi

The Noble Scholar Ahmad Ibn Yahyaa an-Najmi (may Allah have mercy upon him) was asked:

What do you advise the Muslim with in these days of ours?

Answer:

I advise him or her with living upon Tawheed (Islamic Monotheism) as well as the correct creed by way of fulfilling the obligations and duties and keeping (far) away from the prohibited matters.  Also (I advise the Muslim) to accompany the best of the people and to keep away from evil. Also (I advise the Muslim) to follow the ways of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam and keep away from the matters of innovation and he is to take caution from the affairs of fitan. They are many in this time. I advise him or her to remain in his or her home and cry over his or her sins, just as the Prophet sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam stated to one of his companions, “Stay in your home and cry over your sins.” And the success is with Allah.
