The Noble Shaykh Muqbil al-Waadi’ee (may Allah have mercy upon him) said:

Do not busy yourselves with debating the Hizbees, for they do not want the truth. They do not want anything except to enter doubts upon you. Therefore upon you is to keep away from them and do not debate them.

If one was to say: Indeed Allah (azza wa jall) says in His Noble Book, “Do not debate the People of the Book except in a manner that is best.” The answer to that is: Yes, this is if it is known that there is a benefit. As for the case when he (the Hizbee) comes to you and wastes your time, then no, (don’t debate him).

قال العلامة مقبل الوادعي رحمه الله
فلا تُشغلوا أنفسكم بمناظرة الحزبيين ، فهم لا يريدون الحق ، لا يريدون إلا إدخال الشُبه عليكم ، فعليكم بالابتعاد عنهم ، ولا تجادلوهم
فإن قال قائل : فإنّ الله عزّ وجلّ يقول في كتابه الكريم : (( ولا تُجادلوا أهل الكتاب إلا بالتي هي أحسن
فالجواب : نعم ، لو عُلم أن هناك ثمرة ، أمّا أن يأتيك ويُضيّع عليك وقتك، فلا
