Abu ‘Uthmaan al-Jeezi (may Allah have mercy upon him) said:

From the signs of happiness is that you obey (Allah) and fear that you will not be accepted (by Allah). From the signs of wretchedness is that you disobey (Allah) and hope that you will be saved.
