Shaykh Sulaymaan ar-Ruhaylee (may Allah preserve him) stated:

For this oh brothers, from that which we are heedless of is (the matter) that we (are to) cultivate our children upon the remembrance of Allah and that we (are to) get our children accustomed to remembering Allah. From the (time they are) youth, it is upon us that we get them accustomed to the remembrance of Allah.  Indeed I have repeatedly mentioned to some of my beloved ones that it is incumbent upon us that we do not let anyone precede us in teaching our sons and daughters Soorah  al-Faatihah as well as the (words of) remembrance of Allah the Glorified the Most High.  Why is that? That is because if we were to teach them Soorah al-Faatihah, every time they recite Soorah al-Faatihah, Allah writes for us (a portion of) their reward (without taking away from it).  When we teach them the (words of) remembrance of Allah, every time they say Subhaanallaah, Allah writes for us their reward.  We die, we are buried in our graves, and our reward continues on in the life of this world by way of the Dhikr of our children.  That is because we are the ones who taught them that they are to remember Allah The Glorified and Most High.  Sadly, many of the people today teach their children that which doesn’t benefit them from the comical affairs, the matters of amusement or the likes of that.  Rather, some of the people are diligent upon getting their children to memorize that which doesn’t benefit them even if it doesn’t harm them.  At the same time, they are not diligent in getting their children to memorize al-Faatihah or that they memorize the words of remembrance (of Allah) to benefit them and get them accustomed to the (words) of the remembrance of Allah.

علّم أولادك اﻷذكار لتكون في ميزان حسناتك

قال الشيخ سليمان الرحيلي حفظه الله:

ولذلك يا إخوة مِمَّا نغفلُ عنه أنْ نُربِيَّ أبناءنا على ذِكرِ اللهِ، أنْ نُعوِّدَ أبناءنا على ذِكرِ اللهِ،

مِن الصِّغر ينبغي علينا أنْ نُعوِّدَهم ذِكرَ اللهِ.

وقد ذكرتُ مِرارًا وتكرارًا لبعضِ أحبَّتي أنَّه ينبغي علينا أنْ لا يسبِقَنا أحدٌ إلى تعليم أبنائنا وبناتنا سُورةَ الفاتحة وذِكرَ اللهِ سُبحانهُ وتعالى. لماذا؟

لأنَّا إذا علَّمناهم سُورة الفاتحة؛ فكُلَّما قرأوا سُورةَ الفاتحة كتب اللهُ لنا أجرَهم،

وإذا علمناهم ذِكرَ اللهِ؛ فكُلَّما قالوا سُبحان الله كتب اللهُ لنا أجرَهم، نمُوت ونُدفنُ في قبُورنا ويجري أجرُنا في الدُّنيا بذِكرِ أبنائنا؛

لأنَّنا نحنُ الَّذين علَّمناهم أنْ يذكُروا اللهَ سُبحانهُ وتعالى.

للأسف كثيرٌ مِن النَّاس اليوم يُعلِّمون أبناءهم ما لا ينفعُ مِن أُمور مُضحكات

أو مأُمور مُلهيات أو نحو ذلك، بل إنَّ بعضَ النَّاس يحرِصُ على أنْ يحفظ أبناؤه ما لا ينفعُهم إنْ لم يكُن يضرُّهم،

ولا يحرِصوا على أنْ يحفظوا الفاتحةَ،

أنْ يحفظوا أذكارًا تنفعُهم، ويتعوَّدون بها على ذِكرِ الله
