The Noble Scholar Shaykh Sulaymān Ar-Ruhaylī حفظه الله stated:

“If you narrate (to the people) a Hadīth that’s known to be a lie or is thought to be a lie (on the Prophet ﷺ) without you verifying (its authenticity), you are one of those who have lied (on the Prophet ﷺ).”

[Sharh Sahīh At-Targhīb wa At-Tarhīb #22]

The Noble Scholar Shaykh Muhammad Nāsirud-Dīn Al-Albānī رحمه الله stated:

“We are not responsible for guiding the hearts of the people to the truth which we call the people to. We are only responsible for calling (them to the truth).”

[Al-Hudā wan-Nūr 730]

قال محمد ناصر الدين الالباني رحمه الله

لسنا مكلفين أن نهدي قلوب الناس إلى الحق الذي ندعو الناس إليه وإنما نحن مكلفون بالدعوة فقط

[الهدى والنور 730]

Allāh تعالى says (what means):

“No calamity befalls (a person) except by the permission of Allāh, and whoever believes, Allāh guides his heart.”

[At-Taghābun:11]

Ibn ‘Abbās رضي الله عنه commented:

“Nothing happens except by the command of Allāh, His decree and His will. Allāh guides the heart of the one who believes to have certainty. Therefore, he knows that whatever has happened to him was not going to pass him by and whatever has passed him by was not going to happen.”

“Abdullāh bin Mas’ūd رضي الله عنه said:

“When Allāh wants good for a servant He solidifies him, He makes his questions to be about that which concerns him and He teaches him that which benefits him.”

[Al-Ibānah of Ibn Battah 337]

قال عبد بن مسعود رضي الله عنه

إذا أراد الله بعبد خيرا سدده، وجعل سؤاله عما يعنيه، وعلمه فيما ينفعه

الإبانة لابن بطة ٣٣٧

Shaykhul-Islām Ibn Taymiyyah stated:

“The Sunnah is protected by the truth, truthfulness and justice. It’s not protected by lies and oppression. If the person refutes falsehood with falsehood and confronts innovation with innovation, this is what the Salaf and Imāms (of the religion) have blamed.”

[Dar-ut Ta’ārud 7/182]

قال شيخ الإسلام ابن تيمية – رحمه الله- : “تُحرَس السُنّة بالحَقِ و الصدق و العَدل، ولا تُحرَس بِكذبٍ ولا ظُلم فإذا رَدَّ الإنسانُ باطلاً بباطل، وقابل بدعة ببدعة، كان هذا مِمَّا ذَمَّهُ السلف والأئمة”.—————

Abū Hātim Al-Bustī رحمه الله stated:

“Whoever becomes busy with the faults of the people ignoring the faults of himself: His heart becomes blind, his body becomes fatigued and he does not have the ability the abandon his own faults.”

[Rawdah Al-‘Uqalā 125]

قـال أبو حاتم البستي رحمه الله

من اشتغل بعيوب الناس عن عيوب نفسه عمي قلبه وتعب بدنه وتعذر عليه ترك عيوب نفسه
