Bismillāh. Ar-Raḥmān Ar-Rahīm.

On the authority of Abu Al-Yusr Ka’b Ibn ‘Amru (may Allāh be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to supplicate with these words:

Oh Allah! I seek refuge with You from (dying due to the) destruction/collapsing (of a structure upon me). I seek refuge with You from (dying due to) deterioration. I seek refuge with You from (dying due to) drowning. I seek refuge with You from (dying due to) worry. I seek refuge with You from (dying due to) burning (alive). I seek refuge with you from (dying due to) decrepitude. I seek refuge with You from the Shayṭān taking me away (from the Straight Path) at the time of death. I seek refuge with You from dying on your path with my back turned (towards the enemy, running away from battle). I seek refuge with You from dying due to being stung/bit (by something poisonous).

(Sunan Abī Dāwūd, Sunan An-Nasāi, Mustadrak Al-Haakim, and other than them – by route of ‘Abdullah Ibn Sa’īd Ibn Hind)

He (Ibn Hind) said, “Sayfī, the freed slave of Abu Ayyūb, narrated to me on (the authority of) Abu Al-Yusr (may Allāh be pleased with him).” This chain of narrators is authentic. (Ṣaḥīḥ Abī Dāwūd #1388).

The Prophet ﷺ sought refuge from dying under the collapsing (of a structure), [deterioration], drowning, worrying, burning, decrepitude, turning his back to the enemy while fighting in battle, being stung/bit (by a poisonous creature), or being taken away by the Shayṭān (from the Straight Path) at the time of death. These ways of dying are not from having an evil ending, except for that which is disobedience (to Allah), like dying while turning one’s back to the enemy or the Shayṭān taking him away (from the Straight Path) at the time of death. As for dying under the collapsing (of a structure), drowning, burning (to death), or deterioration, then he is from the martyrs. (And) there has come a narration that the one who is stung/bit (by a poisonous) creature is a martyr. However, there is weakness in its chain of narration.

I ask Allāh for myself and for you for a good ending. And Allāh knows best. May the Ṣalāh and Salām of Allāh be upon our Prophet.

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

تسع ميتات استعاذ منها النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم وردت في حديث واحد

عن أبي اليسر كعب بن عمرو رضي الله عنه، أن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم كان يدعو بهؤلاء الكلمات
اللهم إني أعوذ بك من الهدم
وأعوذ بك من التردي
ومن الغرق
والغمّ
والحرَق -وفي لفظ: الحريق-
والهرَمِ
وأعوذ بك من أن يتخبطني الشيطان عند الموت
وأعوذ بك من أن أموت في سبيلك مدبرا
وأعوذ بك من أن أموت لديغا

رواه الإمام أحمد وأبو داود والنسائي والحاكم وغيرهم من طريق عبدالله بن سعيد بن أبي هند قال: حدثني صيفي مولى أبي أيوب عن أبي اليسر رضي الله عنه. وهذا إسناد صحيح. صحيح أبي داود:1388

فاستعاذ النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم من أن يموت تحت الهدم، أو غريقاً، أو مغموما، أو محروقاً، أو في الهرم، أو مدبراً عن القتال في المعركة، أو ملدوغاً، أو أن يتخبطه الشيطان عند الموت

وليست تلك الميتات من سوء الخاتمة إلا ما كان معصية كموت المدبر أو من يتخبطه الشيطان عند الموت

أما الموت تحت الهدم أو بالغرق أو محترقا أو مترديا فهو من الشهداء، وورد حديث في أن اللديغ شهيد وفي إسناده ضعف
