The Noble Imam, Shaykh Muhammad Ibn Saalih al-‘Uthaymeen (may Allah preserve him) stated:

Many from amongst the students of knowledge have concern for the Sunnah and its explanation along with knowing its men (from the chains of narrations) and its sciences (or terminology). However if you were to ask him about a verse from the Book of Allah, you will see that he is ignorant of it. This is a big mistake. It is a must that the Book and the Sunnah are two wings for you, O Student of knowledge.

فكثير من طلبة العلم يعتني بالسنة وشروحها، ورجالها، ومصطلحاتها لكن لو سألته عن آية من كتاب الله لرأيته جاهلاً بها، وهذا غلط كبير، فلابد أن يكون الكتاب والسنة جناحين لك ياطالب العلم
